About
Troop 64 is one of the top troops in the Chickasaw Council’s Eastern District, which is part of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). The troop consistently earns the National Quality Award, the National Camping Award, and the 100% Boys’ Life ribbon. The troop also earns awards as an honor troop at summer camp. Troop 64 has been a continuously charted BSA troop for over 50 years. The troop is several decades older, but its charter lapsed backed in the 1960s.
Troop 64 is sponsored by Germantown United Methodist Church (GUMC). The charter is renewed annually in December. As part of its youth outreach mission, GUMC provides Troop 64 with meeting and storage facilities. Troop 64 members are not required to be affiliated with GUMC.
Troop 64 welcomes all boys, ages 11 – 17, to join our troop and experience all the fun that Scouting has to offer! We meet on Monday nights at 7 p.m. at The Cottage, the red building across the street from the main entrance to Germantown United Methodist Church at 2238 S. Germantown Rd. in the Old Germantown neighborhood. We call it our Scout Hut.
Camping and spending time outdoors is the best part of Scouting, and our troop goes camping every month. We paddle canoes, hike trails, explore caves, sleep on navy ships, play in canyons, snow ski, and climb and repel down mountains.
